As a fighter, Sidoroff was known as "Mean"
Margaret for good reason: She went undefeated in capturing the
Canadian Amateur Gold Medal at the 1998 National Championships,
then went on to capture an Intercontinental Professional Title
and Three Professional World Titles. When she decided to hang
up the gloves in 2000, Margaret assumed managerial control of
the Border City Boxing Club and concentrated on working hard to
become the best coach she can be, achieving her Level V Certification. Margaret became a National
Team Coach in 2001, when she took the Canadian Female Boxing Team to Scranton, PA for the
Inaugural Female World Championships. On October 13, 2007, Margaret was inducted into the Windsor and Essex County Sports Hall of Fame (for pictures of the event, click here)! To read more on "Mean" Margaret, click here! Or to read a Marty Gervais article on "Coach" Margaret, click here!
Jeannine Garside is a former Four-Time Gold Medallist at the Canadian Nationals and Bronze Medallist at the
Inaugural Women's World Championships in 2001. Finishing her amateur career with 40 wins and only 5 losses, Garside turned
professional in 2004, and went on to capture World Titles at 122 lbs. and 126 lbs. Jeannine is a Certified Trainer, Coach and
Box-ON Instructor, who continues to give back to the sport, running classes at Border City and speaking and presenting in the community.
Josh Canty
Josh Canty was one of the Border City Boxing Club's first
two boxers, and the club's first Canadian Champion. When Bill
White approached Josh's coach, Doug Bedard, in 1987 about starting
a new kind of Boxing Club in Windsor, Doug agreed and the Border
City Boxing Club was born. In 1988, Josh won Canadian Gold - Border City's first. Josh went on to
become Head Coach, Vice-President, and President of the Border
City Boxing Club. Now a Level V Coach, Josh has coached Provincial, National, and International Champions,
in both the Amateur and Professional ranks. Click here to view a 2009 video on Josh and the Border City Boxing Club.
Alison Hunter was the 2009 Canadian Champion and is currently working on her Level III Coaching Credentials.
Alison graduated from Queens University, and completed her Teaching Degree at the University of Windsor in 2001. In recognition of her
long-time dedication to the sport, Alison's Team Ontario Teammates named her Captain of the 2007 Provincial Squad in Quebec.
A veteran of nearly 80 amateur bouts, Alison is in the gym every day - training, running practices, and organizing fund-raisers for the Club. An
incredible person and an incredible asset to the Border City Boxing Club: Ali Hunter.
Paul Mancini
Paul Manicini is a dedicated coach with the Border City Boxing Club who is currently working on his Coaching Certification.
Currently, Paul volunteers his time, running workouts, and fund-raising at our many club functions.
It takes the involvement of a lot of people to make for a successful organization like Border City, and Paul Mancini, Jeannine Garside, and Alison Hunter are key to that success.
Assistant Coaches Bob Cruise, Lloyd Johnson, Jeff Pinciuc
and Harry Ladouceur are given awards in 2000 for their help at the Border City
Boxing Club.
